Aamir Khan has opened up about his long standing conflict with his brother Faissal Khan saying that he chose not to fight with his own family despite the allegations made against him.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama Aamir addressed the controversy surrounding Faissal who last year accused his family of illegally confining him and claimed that Aamir misused his power to sabotage his career. Reacting to these accusations Aamir said

“You can fight the world, but how can you fight your own family?”

The actor also spoke about their 2000 film Mela which starred Aamir, Faissal and Twinkle Khanna. Released on January 7, 2000 the film failed at the box office. Aamir admitted that the film’s failure deeply affected both brothers. He shared that every project he works on matters to him and Mela not achieving its full potential was disappointing for the entire team.

“The failure of Mela was hard on Faissal, but it was hard on me too,” Aamir said adding that the cast and crew had put in a lot of effort and were all let down by the outcome.

The feud became public last year when Faissal announced that he had cut ties with his family. He also made serious allegations against Aamir including claims about his personal relationships and accusations of maintaining a false public image.

In response to these statements Aamir Khan’s family released a joint statement expressing their pain over what they called “hurtful and misleading” claims. The family clarified that all decisions regarding Faissal were taken together with guidance from medical professionals and were driven by concern for his emotional and psychological wellbeing.

The statement also mentioned that the family chose not to share details publicly out of respect for privacy during a difficult time. Despite the controversy Aamir has maintained a calm stance stressing that family conflicts are deeply personal and not meant to be fought in public.
