Yami Gautam Dhar in the movie Haq, her emotionally gripping performance in the movie, and her husband Aditya Dhar‘s latest movie Dhurandhar, which has surpassed the biggest hits like Jawan, Pathaan, and Animal, are making them the IT couple.
Yami Gautam had talked to News18 Showska about how she would love to star in the movie Dhurandhar as one of the actors after reading the script, before Dhurandhar was released to the public. “When I read his next script, I told him that it was one of those rare moments when I wished I were a guy. The script is so brilliant. It’s such an amazing world.” Despite her wishes, the actress says she has no expectations of getting the role even if her husband is a film-maker. “
She further added, ” There is a line of professionalism that cannot and should not be blurred. “Regardless, I don’t have that expectation. We respect that professional line. I don’t think that line should be blurred. We’re very clear about it.”
The actress also talks of her trust in her husband and his casting, “If he feels that somebody else is a better fit for a part that he’s writing, I would be absolutely fine with it. This understanding was there since the very beginning.”
Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar first met at the set of Uri: The Surgical Strike. They fell in love and got married in 2021, and then were blessed with a baby boy whom they named Vedavid in May of 2024. Yami Gautam talks of her experience of motherhood and how she is thriving at it, “Motherhood is treating me very well. I’m absolutely loving it. I’ve so many emotions. It’s been more than a year now but it feels like a lifetime. Even as I’m talking, I only have his images coming to my mind and things like what was I doing when I was expecting him and what he does in the mornings now,”
The actress also talks of balancing her work life along with her home life, where she mentions that she is still willing to work and that she is grateful that this industry has given her and her family the much-needed space. “There was a time when actresses were asked to hide their marriages and motherhood. So much has changed today. I’m still here. We’re still talking. I’m happy that I’m continuing to work. This industry is giving us that space to be ourselves. It’s great that I can work and focus on my personal life. In my case, I’m also very fortunate that my mother is there both for me, Aditya and when we’re at work and shooting.” She also mentions the support she receives from her husband and his family.
“It’s said that your child is like your heart beating outside of your body and it’s so true. You wouldn’t trust anybody else but your own people to take care of your heart, and who better than your mother! They all chip in – my dad, my sister and sometimes Aditya’s side of the family. It’s nice. I would like to tell anyone who’s on the edge about getting married or having kids that please go for it. Marriage and motherhood are the most beautiful feelings.”
