Udit Narayan’s First Wife Alleges Uterus Was Removed Without Her Consent, Files Complaint in BiharRenowned playback singer Udit Narayan is once again in the headlines after his first wife, Ranjana Jha, filed a serious complaint against him in Bihar. In her complaint lodged at the Supaul Mahila Thana (women police station) on February 10, Ranjana has accused the singer of deception, lack of support, and a shocking medical violation.
Ranjana Jha, who lives in Balua Bazar in Supaul, claimed that her uterus was removed without her knowledge or consent at a well-known hospital in New Delhi. She stated that the incident happened in 1996 when Udit Narayan, along with his two brothers and his second wife, allegedly took her to Delhi under the pretext of medical treatment.
According to her written complaint, she only recently found out about the removal of her uterus when she visited a doctor for another health issue. Speaking to the media alongside her lawyer, KK Jha, Ranjana said she was unaware of the surgery at the time and never gave permission for such a procedure.Ranjana also shared details about her marriage to Udit Narayan. She said they were married on December 7, 1984, and lived happily together until 1985, when he moved to Mumbai to pursue his singing career. Udit later rose to fame after the success of his songs in the 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
However, Ranjana claimed that she later learned through media reports that Udit had married Deepa Narayan and was living with her. She alleged that although Udit admitted to their first marriage, he never gave her the status of a wife or supported her financially.
She further stated that when she went to Mumbai about two decades ago, she was not allowed to enter his house. She also claimed she faced similar treatment at her in-laws’ home. Following this, she filed a police case in 2006. According to her, Udit had promised financial support at that time but never fulfilled it.
Now 61 years old and dealing with health issues, Ranjana has said she wants the singer to take responsibility and support her.
Confirming the complaint, Anju Tiwari, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Supaul Mahila Thana, said that the police have received Ranjana’s complaint and are investigating the matter. She added that since the incident is around 30 years old, proper inquiry will be conducted before taking further action. The case has once again brought Udit Narayan into the spotlight, raising serious questions about consent, marital rights, and accountability.
