The Raja Saab Review: Prabhas Fails To Impress; This Is The Biggest Problem With The Film

The Raja Saab fails due to a confused screenplay, weak comedy, poor VFX, and outdated writing.

The Raja Saab arrives with massive expectations, largely because it features Prabhas in a genre-bending space. Unfortunately, the film collapses under the weight of its own confusion. The biggest problem with The Raja Saab is simple yet fatal — it tries to be too many things at once and ends up being nothing that truly works.

Despite its grand scale and Prabhas energetic performance The Raja Saab fails to impress due to poor comedy weak horror elements and an overstuffed screenplay.

Too Many Genres, Zero Clarity

The film desperately attempts to juggle fantasy, horror-comedy, mass masala action, and even sci-fi — all within a single narrative. Instead of feeling innovative, the result is chaotic and exhausting. What could have been a crisp horror-comedy turns into a confused spectacle with no tonal consistency.

Comedy and Horror Both Fall Flat

Ironically, comedy — which should have been the film’s biggest strength — is almost non-existent. The jokes feel outdated, forced, and cringe-worthy. The horror elements fail to create even a moment of tension, making the film neither scary nor funny.

The VFX is shockingly poor for a film mounted on this scale, and the screenplay feels scattered, with no sense of rhythm or build-up.

Weak First Half, Underwhelming Payoff

The first half is outright weak and painfully slow. The second half marginally improves but never truly recovers. Even the grand climax lacks emotional or narrative impact, despite its scale. The only scene that remains somewhat bearable is the climax face-off between Prabhas and Sanjay Dutt, but even that cannot salvage the film.

Performances Can’t Save a Bad Script

Prabhas looks handsome and brings his trademark energy, but he simply cannot rise above the shoddy writing. This once again highlights a recurring issue — poor script selection. At this point, Prabhas seriously needs a dedicated assistant for script choices, because even a tier-3 actor would have thought twice before accepting this one.

The outdated screenplay, combined with Thaman S’s atrocious sound mixing, makes the experience even more unbearable.

Box Office Outlook

On the box office front, the Hindi version is expected to tank badly. With weak word of mouth and little to offer beyond Prabhas’ presence, the film struggles to find any solid ground.

Final Verdict

The Raja Saab had potential, but it wasted it by overstuffing the narrative with unnecessary elements. Had it remained a simple, well-written horror-comedy, the outcome might have been very different. Adding to the problem is the poor VFX, which looks outdated and weak, especially for a film mounted on such a large scale.
