Actor Shanaya Kapoor has looked back at how she unexpectedly got into the movies industry and remarked that she is glad it did not occur under director Karan Johar. Is it because she was worried of being trolled like Alia Bhatt? Alia is the most favoured star kid by Karan Johar and the world has witnessed it. Shanaya feels that she was getting greater artistic experience and outlook by starting to work opposite 12th Fail actor Vikrant Massey.

First, Shanaya was planning to join Bollywood with a film Bedhadak produced by Johar that was announced as a big release in 2022. The project was however shelved and she did not enter into films. In retrospect, the actor remarks that setback was not in vain, as it later saw her debut in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which is a romantically based drama, co-starring Massey. She referred to working with him as a way of coming to earth and she had a clearer idea on performance, discipline, and the dynamics of acting on screen.

She has even admitted that there was industry pressure and demands before her first release. Being the daughter of actors Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapur, Shanaya had to enter the world of cinema by facing strong criticism of society. The fact that she was shelved in her first launch compelled her to review her way of doing things and seek opportunities on more independent grounds, which she now regards as instrumental in her growth.

The actor attributed her patience at that unpredictable time to her father who taught her to be patient and that careers take their course in various unpredictable ways. Even though her first movie film was not a big box-office success, Shanaya believes that the delay also enabled her to grow up and be able to present to the audience.

As the number of projects to complete increases and her experience rises, she now thinks that her unusual start was a blessing in disguise, something that made her take a detour on the way to a more significant and self-aware artistic path.
