Shah Rukh Khan stars in King, which sets out to be one of the most awaited movies this year when it releases in December. King pairs SRK with director Siddharth Anand, having worked together previously on Pathaan. Saurabh Shukla, both actor and filmmaker will star in this movie and also revealed that many popular Bollywood actors will be working on King.
“70% of the film industry is in King with Shah Rukh Khan”
Saurabh Shukla shared with Hindi Rush about his experience while filming with SRK; he joked that it seems as though most of the film industry is part of this project (not just himself). According to him, every major Bollywood star has or had some association with the production of King.
Saurabh continued his praise of Shah Rukh Khan by expressing how fun and exciting he found it to work with him, describing him as “one of the most charming people” he knows. In regard to his role in King, Saurabh said audiences will remember him.
Other notable actors in King include SRK, Suhana Khan, Raghav Juyal, Deepika Padukone, Arshad Warsi, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Jaideep Ahlawat among several other familiar faces.
Saurabh Shukla is also an actor, who discussed how he feels personally connected with Ranbir Kapoor. He believes that although there is a large gap in their ages, there is more to their friendship than just the age differences, noting that sometimes two people click regardless of how old or young they might be. He also said even though Ranbir is younger than him on paper, within both of their hearts they are similar ages.
According to Shukla, Ranbir gives off a fun vibe, and while they don’t see each other as frequently due to each of their hectic schedules, they really enjoy each other’s company when they do. When asked about their first impression of one another, he mentioned he met Ranbir on set for Barfi!, and really enjoyed spending time with him during those days. In addition, he commented on Ranbir’s professional skills, saying he is a very gifted actor.
Saurabh Shukla has stated during an earlier conversation with ANI that when he first met Ranbir during the making of Barfi, he was at a stage where he was losing his passion for acting but after performing together and being inspired by what Ranbir brought to the performances gave him back that enthusiasm to continue acting.
Saurabh Shukla recounts that he was able to work with Salman Khan in movies like Kick and feels there hasn’t been much time for them to interact outside of work. He believes that Salman does respect him as an artist, and he admires many of Salman’s attributes. Saurabh also feels that Salman is a quiet person making it difficult for them to have lengthy conversations.
In an Interview with News18, Saurabh disclosed a time on set during filming when one of Salman’s assistants attempted to give him directions during one of the scenes. The assistant felt that Saurabh’s character needed to appear fearful in his interaction with Salman’s character, however Saurabh felt that to be inappropriate for that moment in the film.

When Salman overheard this discussion, he intervened and asked the assistant not to provide Saurabh any direction. Saurabh indicated that at this point, Salman took the assistant aside and told him to not provide Saurabh any direction or assistance. Saurabh suggested the assistant was trying to please Salman and said that in the end, Salman and Saurabh respected Saurabh’s process as an artist.
