Saumya Tandon had only one but impactful scene in Dhurandhar The Revenge starring Ranveer Singh. She played the role of with Akshaye Khanna ‘s wife in Dhurandhar and the actress stated how strongly the two had connected at that point in time. She said that the chemistry the two had was clearly present on-screen despite the time the two spent together off-camera.
In the interview with Variety India she said so many things about her role in Dhurandhar 2, while talking about the role se said “I don’t really have a major role in Dhurandhar 2. One of my scenes has gone viral, but I’d prefer not to talk much about it right now I’d rather people watch it in the film first. I can say that it’s a very intense moment, set during Rehman Dakait’s funeral. It’s quite a layered scene because my character is filled with anger, yet at the same time she’s questioning things and feeling desperate. In this project, many scenes required conveying emotions purely through the eyes.”
Saumya shared that the toughest part of working on the Dhurandhar films was fully immersing herself in the emotional layers of her character, Ulfath Rehman. She portrayed the wife of Rehman Dakait, a role played by Akshaye Khanna. She also mentioned that while filming the second instalment, she truly felt the absence of her co-star, describing it as one of the most difficult aspects of the experience.
About Dhurandhar 2
In the second film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the story shifts to the rise of Hamza Ali Mazari (played by Ranveer Singh) within the Karachi underworld as well as his backstory as Jaskirat Singh Rangi and how he became a covert agent. In relation to Hamza’s rise through the ranks of the underworld, the film reveals how the murder of gangster Rehman Dakait affected Lyari.
The film features an ensemble of established actors comprised of R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. On March 19, the film had an impressive run at the box office, generating ₹454 crores (net) in India during its first weekend.
