Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently opened up about actor Sanjay Dutt’s powerful comeback with Dhurandhar and shared his thoughts on why he believes the veteran star’s talent was underutilised in recent years. During a recent interaction, Gupta candidly stated that Sanjay Dutt had been “wasted” before landing the upcoming action drama.

Speaking about Dutt’s performance in Dhurandhar, Sanjay Gupta said, “People forgot what a fabulous actor Sanju is.” He added that the actor finally got a role that truly tapped into his intensity, screen presence and emotional depth. The filmmaker praised Sanjay Dutt’s dedication and claimed audiences would once again see the star at his best in the upcoming film.Apart from discussing Dhurandhar, Gupta also shared an update on the much-awaited sequel to his 2002 cult action thriller Kaante.

Confirming that Kaante 2 is indeed happening, the filmmaker revealed that the script is currently being worked on. However, he clarified that the sequel would not simply recreate the original film and would instead bring a fresh story and new energy.The original Kaante, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Kumar Gaurav and Mahesh Manjrekar, later achieved cult status among Bollywood action films.
