Sandeep Reddy Vanga is an filmmaker with an unfiltered opinion and the huge success of Animal, has expressed himself strongly in favour of the latest blockbuster by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. After the Wednesday evening screening in Allu Cinemas, Hyderabad, with Spirit star Prabhas, Vanga went to social media to write a glowing review, at the same time taking a jab at the film critics.

In the wake of the controversy on the movie, Vanga criticized critics who have given the high-octane sequel the label of a propagandist movie. In a very angry note, he claimed that the movie is based on facts, writing, “Producers and actors made their careers on propaganda, and the industry remained silent… Now the same caste ridicules Dhurandhar. He denounced the liberal label which is frequently employed by those who would automatically sneer at films which dealt with some facts, and referred to the era as strange times.

Vanga took a cautionary approach in the review when he cautioned the actor Ranveer Singh and the director Aditya Dhar against the evil eye (kaala drishti) that accompanies such a high in the sky. In his typical style, he composed, “Yeh kaala drishti aise nahi jaayega… Muthi bhar ke laal mirch se kaam nahi chalega…. poora khet jalana padega” (This evil eye won’t be removed easily… you’ll have to burn down a whole field of red chillies).

Aditya Dhar replied with equal reverence and complemented Vanga on his belief and sincerity in supporting his cinema. The exchange underscores an increasingly strong friendship among the most successful film-makers in the industry. Dhurandhar 2 has turned into a historic hit with an international gross of over 1600 crores and Vanga is presently shooting Spirit with Prabhas. This outpouring of love by Vanga and Prabhas has also excited the fans of the movie, who have detected the duo caught up watching the movie even up to the end credits.
