Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has never shied away from speaking her mind and in a recent candid interaction she opened up about her marriage to filmmaker Raj Nidimoru with refreshing honesty. As she prepares for the release of her upcoming action drama Maa Inti Bangaaram, Samantha also spoke about the dynamic she shares with Raj calling themselves in her words an “irritating couple.”
In an interview with Vogue Samantha laughed about how inseparable the two are. “Raj and I really are that irritating couple that does everything together. We work together, we play together, we work out together with Paridhi. And we love it” she said. She even joked that being apart even briefly, feels dramatic. “If I have to travel for even a day I’m like…” she trailed off playfully pretending to swoon in distress.
Dismissing the idea that it’s simply newlywed excitement Samantha added “I don’t think it’s a honeymoon phase. Too much time has passed for it to be that.”
Beyond companionship she also credits Raj for influencing her growth as an actor. Drawing a comparison from Hollywood Samantha said, “Leonardo DiCaprio keeps on working with Martin Scorsese and his performances just keep getting more layered. I think I’m becoming a better actor because Raj is around.” The remark hinted at a creative partnership that extends far beyond their personal life.
Samantha and Raj first crossed paths while working on The Family Man Season 2. Their professional association continued with the Indian adaptation of Citadel Honey Bunny. Over time rumours about their relationship began to circulate, especially after the two were spotted together at several public events in 2024. Reports suggested they had moved in together although neither addressed the speculation directly at the time.
While they chose to keep their relationship largely private Samantha’s occasional social media posts featuring Raj added fuel to the buzz. Eventually the couple made it official tying the knot on December 1 in an intimate Linga Bhairava Vivaha ceremony at the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore surrounded by close friends and family. Their announcement on Instagram was met with an outpouring of love from fans.
Before her marriage to Raj, Samantha was married to actor Naga Chaitanya. The two separated in 2021 after four years together. Raj too was previously married to Shyamali De with reports suggesting they parted ways in 2022.
Today Samantha appears to be entering a new chapter both personally and professionally. With Maa Inti Bangaaram on the horizon and a creative partnership she clearly cherishes the actor seems content embracing life as one half of what she jokingly calls an “irritating” but deeply connected couple.
