Salman Khan has once again grabbed the spotlight, this time with a surprise appearance in Raja Shivaji. Ever since the historical drama released in theatres, clips of Salman’s entry scene have gone viral across social media, with audiences erupting into loud cheers and whistles the moment he appeared on screen.
The superstar plays the role of Jiva Mahala, one of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s trusted warriors. In the now-viral sequence, Salman appears in a saffron kurta and matching turban, carrying a Maratha sword and sporting an intense warrior look complete with a moustache and tilak.
Fans especially reacted to his powerful dialogue, “Shivaji nahi; Shivaji Raj mhanaycha,” which reportedly triggered thunderous applause inside theatres. Videos from cinema halls quickly spread online, with many viewers calling Salman’s brief role one of the film’s biggest highlights.
Social media users could not stop praising the cameo. One fan wrote, “Man, just saw the cameo… what a powerful visual! What a look – pure iconic stuff by Salman Khan as Jiva Mahala in #RajaShivaji.” Another user commented, “This isn’t just a cameo… it’s a full-on theatre celebration – whistles, claps, madness guaranteed!”
Earlier, filmmaker and actor Riteish Deshmukh had revealed that Salman himself insisted on joining the project. Recalling their conversation, Riteish shared that when Salman asked about the film’s shoot schedule, he also asked, “Which role am I playing?” When Riteish told him no role had been planned, Salman reportedly replied, “No, no, no, you can’t make the film without me, I have to be in it.”
Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, Raja Shivaji brings the story and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the big screen. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Mahesh Manjrekar in important roles.
