Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is reportedly in talks to portray Lord Shiva in a grand cinematic adaptation of The Immortals of Meluha, the first book from author Amish Tripathi’s famous Shiva Trilogy. Reports claim the ambitious project is being planned as a large-scale trilogy and could become one of the actor’s most significant films to date.
According to reports, Ranveer has allegedly acquired the rights to the bestselling novel under his production banner and partnered with Birla Studios to develop the mythological franchise. The makers are said to be focusing heavily on screenplay development and world-building before officially announcing the director and remaining cast. Reports also suggest that the first installment may go on floors in 2028.
The novel, published in 2010, presents a fictional retelling of Lord Shiva’s journey, portraying him as a warrior who later becomes revered as a divine figure. The Shiva Trilogy has been one of the most successful mythological book series in India and enjoys a massive fan following worldwide.
However, amid growing speculation online, Amish Tripathi later clarified that no official agreement regarding the adaptation rights had been finalized with Ranveer Singh. The author stated that reports claiming the actor had acquired the rights were inaccurate, though he expressed admiration for the actor.
Fans on social media have already started discussing Ranveer’s potential transformation into the iconic character, with many calling it a bold and exciting move for the actor.
