Actor Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about why she prefers to keep her daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas away from the public spotlight. The actor shared that while she understands the curiosity people have about celebrity children her priority is ensuring her daughter’s safety and privacy.
During an appearance on a podcast hosted by Amanda Hirsch, Priyanka spoke about the challenges of raising a child while living a very public life. She revealed that she and her husband singer Nick Jonas, try to give Malti as much anonymity as possible as she grows up.
Priyanka recalled an unsettling incident that made her even more cautious about her daughter’s security. She shared that a stranger once followed Malti home from school while recording her which deeply concerned the actor. According to Priyanka situations like these highlight the risks that come with fame especially when it involves children.
The actor explained that when they step out in public with their daughter they often have security with them. She clarified that the purpose is not to create distance but to prevent situations where Malti might be recorded or photographed without consent. Priyanka believes that children should have the freedom to grow up without constantly being under public scrutiny.
At the same time she said she does not want Malti to feel fearful of people or the world around her. Priyanka emphasized that she wants her daughter to understand that while public curiosity is natural it is important for her to have the choice of how much of her life she wants to share in the future.
Priyanka also acknowledged that being a public figure was a personal decision she made long ago but she does not want that choice to automatically define her daughter’s life. For her the goal is to create a balance where Malti can enjoy a normal childhood while still being aware of the realities that come with having well-known parents.
On the work front Priyanka was last seen in the action adventure film The Bluff. She is also set to appear in filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming project alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. In addition fans will see her return in the second season of the web series Citadel.
