Prabhas may be headlining some of the biggest pan-India projects, but the actor has no hesitation in acknowledging when a scene truly belongs to someone else. During a candid interaction ahead of The Raja Saab release, Prabhas opened up about one of the most talked-about moments from Kalki 2898 AD — the powerful climax featuring Amitabh Bachchan.
Recalling the audience reaction, Prabhas admitted that even his own friends were cheering for Amitabh Bachchan’s character, not his. For him, that reaction was a compliment rather than a surprise.
“In the Kalki climax, my friends were cheering for Amitabh Bachchan’s character, not mine, and that’s the mark of a great director, because my character was on the wrong side in that moment,” Prabhas said.
The actor further shared how overwhelming the experience was while filming the scene.
“I was shocked when Amitabh sir was hitting me. Everyone on set and later in theatres was cheering and clapping. It was a completely different experience for me,” he added.
Prabhas revealed this during a brief but honest chat with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, as the two caught up ahead of The Raja Saab release. The conversation quickly turned nostalgic, with Prabhas praising how Kalki 2898 AD balanced heroism and moral conflict without forcing audience sympathy.

Kalki 2898 AD featured Prabhas alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in pivotal roles. While discussions around the sequel are already underway, speculation continues online about casting changes. However, no official confirmation has been made by the makers regarding character exits or industry actions, and the team has remained tight-lipped about the narrative direction of Part 2.
For Prabhas, though, the takeaway from Kalki remains simple and powerful, when audiences cheer for the opposing force, it means the storytelling has done its job. And in his own words, that’s cinema working at its best.
