Piyush Mishra, an actor and a writer has come out with a disclosure of the most personal and very frank revelation about the past alcoholism problem that he had fought before as it influenced his own life too as well as his behavior.
Mishra in a recent interview referred to alcoholism as a disease that is quite fatal and slowly consumes an individual without even the knowledge of the latter. He described the process of how drinking became not a choice and necessity with time due to strong physical and mental cravings.
Looking back on what he did back then, Mishra confessed that it is always alcohol that made him get into behaviors he sometimes regretted. He also disclosed that he used to make obscene and inappropriate phone calls to women when he was drunk, something which he was unable to remember at other times. He also confessed that he said some mean words to his mother, admitting that addiction made him choose words out of the wrong place and was unable to control his emotions.
Mishra was keen to note that he was disciplined in his professional life although his struggle was such. He even said that he never drank alcohol and worked or acted despite him always having the addiction during that period.
His open confession has found a lot of support in many people because it sheds light on how substance abuse effects are often underestimated. Mishra does not tell of a personal regret, but rather reminds people of how addiction can change personality, relationship and self-consciousness.
His frankness is now being regarded as a move to consciousness and responsibility. By telling the story of his life, Piyush Mishra not only dwells upon his past lifestyle but also adds to a greater discourse of addiction, recovery, and the need to self-realize.
