Veteran actor Neena Gupta recently found herself at the centre of unusual social media chatter after rumours began circulating online claiming that she was pregnant at the age of 66. The speculation quickly spread after the actor attended the wedding reception of actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda in Hyderabad last week.
Photos and videos from the reception soon went viral across social media platforms. In several clips Neena was seen posing for the paparazzi before entering the venue. However soon after the visuals began circulating, some social media users started speculating about her appearance leading to baseless claims about a possible pregnancy.
Addressing the rumours Neena responded in her trademark witty style. Speaking to journalist Subhash K Jha for Bollywood Hungama, the actor dismissed the speculation with humour. Referring to her popular film Badhaai Ho, she joked “This is all I need, a real life Badhaai Ho.”
She further clarified the misunderstanding and firmly denied the rumours. Explaining what actually led to the speculation, Neena said the saree she wore at the event had thick material, which made her appear bulkier in photographs.
“There is no Badhaai Ho. I am not pregnant. The truth is that the saree material was thick which made me look bulky at the event. But I must say, I love all this speculation about my pregnancy at my age. It shows we are evolving as a nation,” she said taking the rumours lightly.

Later, in 2008, Neena married Delhi based chartered accountant Vivek Mehra.
On the professional front Neena was last seen in the film Vadh 2 alongside Sanjay Mishra. The film opened to modest audience interest and briefly gained traction through word of mouth eventually collecting around ₹3.35 crore at the box office. Despite its limited commercial run, the performances of both actors received appreciation.
