Ekta Kapoor’s Naagin 7 has been grabbing attention ever since its premiere on December 27, with fans eagerly watching Priyanka Chahar Choudhary step into the role of a naagin for the first time. While the new season started on a highly anticipated note, a recent episode has stirred controversy—this time due to an AI-generated tribute to past Mahanaagins.
In the episode, the makers showcased an artificial intelligence–created montage featuring six iconic Mahanaagins from previous seasons. The tribute included AI-rendered versions of characters originally played by Mouni Roy, Surbhi Chandana, Surbhi Jyoti, Nia Sharma, and Tejasswi Prakash, appearing in their signature naagin avatars as Priyanka’s character embraces her destiny.
However, instead of evoking nostalgia, the sequence failed to impress a large section of viewers. Many fans felt the AI visuals looked unnatural, stiff, and poorly executed. Social media platforms, especially Reddit, were soon flooded with criticism. Several users questioned why the makers chose AI over bringing back the original actresses or using conventional CGI.

Some viewers described the sequence as “cringe,” while others felt it resembled low-quality AI videos commonly seen online. A recurring opinion among fans was that the emotional impact would have been far stronger if real footage or guest appearances had been used instead of artificial recreations.
Despite the backlash, Naagin continues to remain one of Indian television’s most successful fantasy franchises. Since its debut in 2015, the show has consistently enjoyed high viewership due to its blend of mythology, drama, romance, and supernatural elements. Each season introduces a new narrative and lead character, keeping the franchise fresh and relevant.
This season, Naagin 7 stars Priyanka Chahar Choudhary as Mahanaagin Ananta, alongside Eisha Singh, Namik Paul, and Alice Kaushik. The storyline revolves around an intense and mythical battle between a naagin and a dragon. The show currently airs on Colors TV and streams on JioHotstar.
While the AI tribute may have missed the mark, Naagin 7 continues to spark conversations—proving once again that the franchise knows how to stay in the spotlight, for better or worse.
