One of India’s most popular OTT shows, Mirzapur, is all set to hit the big screen. Mirzapur The Movie, which continues the story after season 3, will release in theatres on September 4 this year. The announcement was made by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment on Thursday.
The makers shared an official poster revealing the release date. The poster shows a line of SUVs moving along a winding road, hinting at the intense action and power struggle the franchise is known for. The caption read, “Ab dekhiye bhaukaal bade parde par,” inviting fans to watch the chaos unfold in cinemas.
The film brings back fan-favourite characters Kaleen Bhaiya, played by Pankaj Tripathi, and Guddu Pandit, played by Ali Fazal. In a surprising twist, Divyenndu’s Munna Tripathi will also return, even though his character had died in the series. This revelation has already sparked excitement among fans.
The ensemble cast includes Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Duggal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur, Sushant Singh, Mohit Malik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sonal Chauhan, Pramod Pathak and Anangsha Biswas. Vikrant Massey, who played Babloo Pandit in season 1, will not be part of the film and has reportedly been replaced by Jitendra Kumar.
Mirzapur The Movie has recently completed shooting and is currently in post-production. Set in the town of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, the franchise is known for its raw storytelling, strong performances, and intense gang rivalry.
The announcement has generated strong buzz online, with fans expressing excitement about watching the violent world of Mirzapur unfold on the big screen. Since its debut, the series has built a massive fan base for its powerful dialogues, intense action and memorable characters. With a theatrical release, expectations are high that the film will offer a grander and more immersive experience than the OTT format.
The film is directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, with production by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. With its theatrical release, Mirzapur marks a major shift from OTT to cinema, promising fans a larger-than-life experience.
