Television actors Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali recently announced their separation after 16 years together, leaving fans surprised and emotional. The couple shared the news through a joint statement on January 4, emphasising that their decision was mutual and rooted in peace, respect, and understanding.

However, soon after the announcement, Mahhi’s social media posts sparked speculation and rumours about tension between the two. Addressing this head-on, Mahhi took to her Instagram Stories on January 5 to firmly shut down any negativity surrounding their separation.

A day after announcing the split, Mahhi shared a selfie with Jay, where both were seen wearing face masks and flashing the peace sign. Along with the picture, she wrote a strong message calling out sensational reporting:

“Yeah this is us. For likes n comments, media can stoop to any level… my stories are not for Jay. Stop making it dirty just like your journalism.”

She further shared gym selfies with Jay, adding a sarcastic caption that criticised how her posts were being misinterpreted, mocking the idea of “cryptic posts” and calling out media outlets for unnecessary speculation.

Earlier, Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij had released a joint statement clarifying their stance. The note read:

“Today, we choose to part ways on a journey called life, yet we continue to have each other’s back. Peace, growth, kindness, and humanity have always been our guiding values.”

They also stressed that their bond remains intact in a different form:

“We continue to respect one another, support one another, and remain friends, as we always have been. With mutual respect, we ask for your respect, love and kindness as we move forward.”

By openly addressing the rumours, Mahhi made it clear that there is no bitterness or conflict involved and that both she and Jay are handling the separation with maturity and dignity.
