Actor Imran Khan has opened up about a lesser-known chapter of his Bollywood journey, revealing that he was once considered for major films like Chennai Express and Delhi 6, but eventually lost out on both projects. In a recent candid conversation, the Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na star admitted that the experience left him deeply disappointed at the time.

Imran shared that he was in talks for Delhi 6, the 2009 Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directorial, which ultimately starred Abhishek Bachchan alongside Sonam Kapoor. According to Imran, things seemed to be moving in a positive direction initially, but the makers later decided to go with Abhishek, who they felt was a better fit for the role. “I was quite devastated,” Imran confessed, adding that he had emotionally invested himself in the project and believed it could have been a significant turning point in his career.

The actor also revealed that he was once in the running for Chennai Express, the 2013 blockbuster directed by Rohit Shetty. However, the film eventually went to Shah Rukh Khan, reuniting the superstar with Deepika Padukone and resulting in one of the biggest hits of that decade. Looking back, Imran said the decision was understandable, given Shah Rukh Khan’s unmatched stardom and box office pull. Still, at that stage in his career, missing out on such a massive film was difficult to process.

Despite the disappointment, Imran believes these experiences helped him grow and develop a thicker skin in the industry. He noted that Bollywood is unpredictable, and actors often have to make peace with losing projects that were never truly theirs to begin with.
