When a star like Hrithik Roshan publicly praises a film people take notice. And this time it’s Vishal Bhardwaj’s gangster drama O’Romeo that has caught his attention especially Shahid Kapoor’s performance.

Hrithik recently watched O’Romeo and shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter). In a short but enthusiastic post he mentioned how the films quirky tone slowly grows on you. What stood out most for him, however was Shahid Kapoor’s command over the genre. “You do this genre BEST” Hrithik wrote adding that he thoroughly enjoyed the experience and urging audiences to watch the film in theatres.

He also called out a particular action moment a “running in circles” sequence calling it brilliant. For fans of action cinema that kind of praise coming from Hrithik who himself is known for his action roles, feels significant.

O’Romeo marks the fourth collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and director Vishal Bhardwaj. Their earlier projects Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon earned critical acclaim and showcased Shahid in intense, layered roles. Over the years this actor director duo has developed a reputation for delivering unconventional and emotionally complex stories.

In O’Romeo Shahid plays Ustara a gangster navigating the dark lanes of Mumbai’s underworld. Triptii Dimri stars opposite him as Afshan and together they anchor a story that blends romance with violence. The film draws inspiration from a chapter in Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai giving it a semi-realistic backdrop.

The supporting cast includes Disha Patani, Vikrant Massey, Farida Jalal, Hussain Dalal, Nana Patekar, Tamannaah Bhatia and Avinash Tiwary adding more depth to the narrative

Despite mixed critical reactions, Vishal Bhardwaj has openly expressed pride in the project. In a recent interview he stated that O’Romeo could turn out to be one of the most successful films of his career.

Commercially, the film seems to be holding strong. It reportedly crossed ₹50 crore net in India within its first week a promising start for a crime drama.

Hrithik Roshan’s appreciation is not just a casual compliment. As someone known for his own action packed roles his recognition of a specific action sequence highlights the technical and performance work of the film.

For Shahid Kapoor this comes as a massive achievement. Over the years he has built a strong presence in intense, morally grey characters and O’Romeo seems to continue that streak.
