Stay tuned with The GossipGully.com.
Now, for the first time, Hema Malini has spoken in detail about the painful loss of her husband and life partner, opening her heart in an emotional conversation with The Times of India.
Recalling the difficult days leading up to his demise, Hema Malini said,
“It was a companionship that stood the test of time. It was an inconsolable shock. It has been terrible because for a month we were struggling when he was not well. We were constantly trying to cope with whatever was happening in the hospital. We were all there — I, Esha, Ahana, Sunny, Bobby — all together.”
She shared that the family believed Dharmendra would recover, as he had done so in the past.
“In the past, there had been instances when he went to the hospital and came back home fine. We thought iss baar bhi aa jayenge,” she said, her words reflecting both hope and heartbreak.

Hema also remembered the warmth and normalcy of his final days.
“He was talking to us nicely. On my birthday (October 16), he even wished me. His birthday was coming up on December 8, when he was turning 90, and we were thinking of celebrating it nicely. The preparations were on, and then suddenly, he was not there.”
Describing the emotional toll of witnessing his health decline, she added,
“To personally see him sink was very difficult. Nobody should have to go through this kind of situation.”
Speaking about life after his passing, Hema Malini admitted that the void left behind is impossible to fill.
“Time waits for no one. I miss Dharam ji every minute. It is important for us to keep him alive in our hearts and memories.”
She also addressed how intense media attention during Dharmendra’s illness added to the family’s distress.
“Sunny was getting upset and angry. We all were going through an emotional time and the media was running behind our cars… harassment bahut hua,” she said, calling it an especially painful experience during an already fragile phase.
Hema Malini’s words reflect not only the grief of losing a legendary actor, but also the deeply personal loss of a lifelong companion — a bond built on decades of love, resilience, and shared memories.
