The Golden Globe Awards 2026 was a grand celebration of films, television and powerful storytelling. Hosted for the second consecutive year by comedian Nikki Glaser, the ceremony took place in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and saw a star studded turnout from across the global entertainment industry.

This year’s awards stood out for many reasons. Along with honouring the best in movies and television the Golden Globes introduced podcast categories for the first time expanding their celebration of storytelling beyond the screen. It was also the third year of the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category which recognises commercially successful films that may not fit into traditional award slots.

The biggest winners of the night were One Battle After Another and Adolescence. Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson made a strong impact by winning major awards. Anderson took home honours for Best Director and Best Screenplay while Teyana Taylor won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film.

On the television side, Adolescence completely dominated the limited series category. The show won Best Limited Series and earned acting awards for Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, and Owen Cooper, making it one of the most celebrated TV projects of the year.

International cinema also received well deserved recognition. Brazil’s The Secret Agent won Best Non-English Language Film, while Wagner Moura earned Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. Jessie Buckley won Best Actress (Drama) for Hamnet and Timothee Chalamet impressed audiences and critics alike by winning Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) for Marty Supreme.

In television categories, The Pitt won Best Drama Series with Noah Wyle taking home Best Actor. The Studio won Best Musical or Comedy Series while Jean Smart continued her winning streak with Best Actress for Hacks. Ricky Gervais won Best Stand-Up Comedy Special and Amy Poehler’s Good Hang became the first ever podcast to win a Golden Globe.
