Actor Yami Gautam has found herself at the centre of online discussion after fans noticed that she liked an Instagram Reel that appeared to shade Kriti Sanon for winning the Best Actress award at the recent Zee Cine Awards.
Kriti Sanon took home the Best Actress trophy for her performance in Tere Ishk Mein. Shortly after the ceremony an Instagram page shared a Reel comparing Kriti’s celebratory moment with an old interview clip of Yami Gautam speaking about awards and validation.
In the interview clip, Yami is heard saying that she has stopped seeking validation through awards suggesting that an actor’s worth should not depend on whether they win trophies. The Reel then ends by questioning whether Kriti’s win over Yami was “fair”.
What caught people’s attention was that Yami Gautam had liked the Reel. A screenshot of the like quickly circulated online, particularly on Reddit where users began debating whether the action indirectly shaded Kriti Sanon.

Many Reddit users criticised the move suggesting that Kriti had done nothing to warrant such comparisons. One user commented that Kriti “usually minds her own business,” questioning why she was being dragged into the conversation. Another described the action as unnecessary and accused Yami of appearing “insecure.”
However, the discussion was not one sided. Some users defended Yami arguing that she delivered a strong performance and was equally deserving of the award. A few fans even said that both actors could have been worthy winners noting that award decisions are often subjective.

Others pointed out that performances across several films were being compared online, with some even mentioning Kangana Ranaut’s role in Emergency during the debate.
Meanwhile, Kriti Sanon celebrated her win on social media by sharing photos and videos with the trophy. In her post she expressed gratitude to the Zee Cine Awards and described her character Mukti as one that “has her heart.” She also thanked director Aanand L Rai, co star Dhanush and audiences for their support.
As the online conversation continues, the incident highlights how even small social media actions by celebrities can quickly spark widespread debate among fans.
