Dhurandhar 2 beats Animal; earns Rs 900 cr globally in just 6 days

Dhurandhar 2 is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. The Ranveer Singh led spy thriller has crossed the ₹900 crore mark globally within six days of release putting it ahead of major hits like Animal and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

After a record breaking start, the film has managed to sustain its momentum through the weekdays something that often determines the long term success of big budget releases. Directed by Aditya Dhar the sequel opened to massive numbers, aided by paid previews that pushed its initial collections significantly higher.

The film earned around ₹145 crore net domestically on its opening day, contributing to a worldwide total of ₹240 crore. By the end of its extended four day weekend the film had already amassed ₹750 crore globally. It continued its strong run on Monday, adding another ₹100 crore and maintained the pace on Tuesday with a solid ₹56 crore net collection in India.

With this, the film’s domestic total now stands at approximately ₹575 crore net, translating to around ₹687 crore gross. The ₹600 crore mark in India is expected to be crossed soon, with the ₹700 crore milestone also within reach by the end of the week.

Overseas markets have also played a key role in the film’s performance. Starting with a $7 million opening the film collected over $22 million during its first weekend internationally. Despite a slight dip after the weekend, it has held steady, adding another $2 million on Tuesday. Its total overseas collection now stands at about $27 million (roughly ₹250 crore).

Globally Dhurandhar 2 has collected an impressive ₹937 crore in just six days putting it close to the ₹1000 crore milestone. This also places it among a select group of Bollywood films that have crossed the $100 million mark worldwide.

In the process the film has surpassed the lifetime collections of Secret Superstar, Animal and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. It is now eyeing the next set of benchmarks including Pathaan and Kalki 2898 AD, both of which earned over ₹1000 crore globally.

The film features a large ensemble cast, including R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi. Released on March 19, the sequel builds on the success of its predecessor, which had a long theatrical run and strong global earnings.

At its current pace Dhurandhar 2 looks set to cross the ₹1000 crore mark imminently, further cementing its position as one of the biggest box office performers in recent times.
