There’s been growing chatter in Bollywood circles about the action comedy film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan with reports suggesting the project had hit major roadblocks from production delays to uncertainty about its release strategy.

The untitled film a collaboration between Dharma Productions (Karan Johar’s banner) and Sikhya Entertainment (co-produced by Guneet Monga) began shooting in mid-2024, with its first schedule wrapped up in locations like Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

However, industry insiders and entertainment outlets began reporting that the project had stalled since late 2024. According to these sources, the team has debated the future of the movie, with no clear decision on whether it should release theatrically or directly on an OTT platform. As a result, filming has reportedly not resumed and the project remained in a sort of limbo heading into 2026.

One entertainment portal described the situation as a “major obstacle,” noting that while expectations around the film were high, especially since it marks the first collaboration between Ayushmann and Sara it has been stalled for over a year without a confirmed restart date.

Amid these swirling reports, Karan Johar has stepped forward to put the rumours to rest. In an exclusive reply to journalists, Johar insisted that the speculation about the film being “in trouble” is untrue. He clarified that the team has only about 10 days of shooting left and that the movie is still very much on track for a theatrical release this year.

The director of the film, Aakash Kaushik, has also backed this up, emphasizing that the project is moving ahead as planned, dismissing suggestions that the production has collapsed or been shelved. The film’s shoot began in 2024 and was hoped to be released in 2026 — likely in theatres under Dharma’s banner. Despite delays, key stakeholders, including Johar and the director, maintain confidence in its completion and release. For Ayushmann Khurrana, this film adds to an already busy slate that includes other projects, while Sara Ali Khan continues to build momentum with her upcoming roles.
