Actor Ayesha Khan has never shied away from speaking her mind and her recent statements about body shaming and online harassment have struck a chord with many.
While speaking at the We The Women event Ayesha revealed a painful memory from her early days in the industry. She shared that when she was in Class XII, she was signed as the second lead for a T-Series music video. However just a night before the shoot she was replaced because she was considered “fat.” The sudden rejection left a deep impact on her confidence at a young age especially when she was still figuring out her place in the entertainment world.
Ayesha admitted that it took her time to feel comfortable in her own skin. The pressure to look a certain way especially in showbiz is constant and often unspoken. For her the journey toward self acceptance was not instant it came with experiences that were both discouraging and eye opening.
The actor also addressed the reality of being constantly judged and sexualised on social media. According to her even wearing a normal top or skirt becomes a topic of criticism. She said she often has to think twice before posting a picture knowing that comments can quickly turn inappropriate.
Ayesha explained that this constant scrutiny creates a difficult mental space. Some days she feels confident enough to post whatever she wants but on other days she avoids it altogether to protect herself from disturbing remarks. She described the emotional conflict of wanting to express herself freely while being aware of the backlash that might follow.
Perhaps the most alarming part of her revelation was about receiving rape threats on Instagram. Ayesha said that such threats are not occasional, they happen daily. She called it “very scary” adding that these are not just faceless words but real people behind those accounts.
She expressed concern over how normalised such comments have become online. For her it is not just trolling, it feels like a genuine threat. She also mentioned that there are days when these comments trigger old wounds and fears. The thought that such things could happen to someone without visibility or support makes the issue even more disturbing.
Her statement highlights a larger conversation around digital safety, accountability and stricter action against online abuse.
Ayesha began her career as a junior artist and made her television debut with Kasautii Zindagii Kay produced by Ekta Kapoor. She later appeared in Baalveer Returns and made her Telugu film debut with Mukhachitram in a supporting role.
Her popularity grew significantly after participating in Bigg Boss 17 hosted by Salman Khan. Post the reality show she became widely recognised and later featured in the YouTube series Dil Ko Rafu Karr Lei.
She also appeared in a supporting role in Jaat and was part of the special song “Shararat” in Dhurandhar alongside Krystle D’Souza. Most recently she was seen in Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, starring Kapil Sharma. The film collected ₹16.23 crore worldwide against a reported budget of ₹35 crore.
Ayesha Khan’s words are a reminder that behind the glamour of the entertainment industry are real struggles from body shaming to online threats. Her openness adds to the ongoing conversation about mental health, digital boundaries and the urgent need for stricter action against cyber harassment.
