Singer-composer Palash Sen has posted his comments regarding why Arijit Singh might be deciding to drop playback singing in movies, and his point of view is based on his own experience.
Sen, the frontman of the band Euphoria, went to Instagram contemplating one of the defining moments of his own career, which, he says, reflects what Arijit is experiencing at this time. Sen recalled his debut film Filhaal that came out 24 years ago and failed to perform well and was subjected to criticism and trolling by the film industry insiders. He told that he was disheartened by many to stay in films and they even questioned his existence there by saying that he was not supposed to sing a song written by Gulzar and composed by Anu Malik, whose names he admired so much. Although the project was not successful in the business world, his work with Tabu, Sushmita Sen and Sanjay Suri is still a good memory to him.
Making that comparison, Palash replied that he knows the reason why Arijit has chosen to stop taking up new playback jobs. After himself deciding to go it alone after being stalled out, Palash believes that Arijit is now just following the same route with him focusing more on his individual artistic path as opposed to the traditional film system. The announcement was earlier made by Arijit himself in social media when he said that he will not accept new playback work which he termed as a wonderful journey in the industry. He also acknowledged the fans who have been supporting him over the years.
The remarks of Sen are a refreshing artist-to-artist commentary that sometimes it is not about retreating at the personal level but about liberating oneself creatively and personally.
