Actor Ameesha Patel has weighed in on the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, praising director Aditya Dhar for prioritising talent over social media popularity. As the film continues its strong box office run, her remarks have sparked fresh conversation around casting choices in Bollywood.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ameesha called the film an “eye opener” for the industry. She wrote that while the widespread praise for Dhurandhar is well deserved, it should also serve as a lesson. According to her, Dhar focused on “making a film and not a project” adding that he “casted actors and not Instagrammers who trend at parties.” Her comment reflects a growing sentiment among some actors and audiences who feel that performance driven casting is often sidelined in favour of social media appeal.

The film, led by Ranveer Singh, features a mix of established names and relatively lesser known performers. Alongside Ranveer, actors like Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna play key roles. The ensemble also includes performers such as Gaurav Gera and Rakesh Bedi, along with several fresh faces, highlighting casting director Mukesh Chhabra’s wide ranging selection.

Set against the backdrop of Karachi’s Lyari region, the sequel expands on the story introduced in the first film. It follows the rise of Ranveer’s character, Hamza Ali Mazari, while tracing his past as Jaskirat Singh Rangi. The narrative blends elements of espionage, crime, and real-world geopolitical tensions, which has resonated with audiences across the board.

The film has also received appreciation from several industry figures. Superstar Rajinikanth recently praised the film on social media, calling it a “must watch” and congratulating the entire team. Dhar, in response, expressed gratitude, saying that recognition from Rajinikanth felt like a “superstar moment” and a personal milestone.
