Alia Bhatt is currently being heavily called out by netizens after two interview clips related to Gangubai Kathiawadi resurfaced online. The internet believes the actress has not kept her story consistent about how she landed the National Award winning role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film.
In her interview, Alia Bhatt said that after Inshallah with Salman Khan got shelved, Sanjay Leela Bhansali told her he would call her in two weeks and “he had her Gangubai Kathiawadi.”

However, fans online have now put this statement side by side with an old interview of Bhansali where he narrated a different moment entirely. According to SLB, when Inshallah was cancelled, Alia started crying, locked herself in a room and refused to come out. Seeing her devastated, he then offered her Gangubai Kathiawadi to uplift her.
This comparison has gone viral with fans accusing Alia Bhatt of twisting the story to make it more flattering. Comments like “Caught lying red handed” and “Two different stories from two different mouths” have taken over social media as users flood timelines with memes and reactions.
Despite the backlash, supporters of the actress are defending her, saying both versions may simply be two perspectives of the same incident.
Alia Bhatt has not reacted to the online outrage yet. Meanwhile, she is busy shooting for Love and War directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, where she stars opposite her husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
