Arijit Singh recently surprised his fans with a powerful live performance, just days after announcing that he is quitting playback singing. The singer had earlier shocked the entire country when he shared a post saying he would no longer take up new assignments as a playback vocalist, calling it the end of a “wonderful journey.”

In his emotional message, Arijit thanked his listeners for all the love and support over the years. The announcement left many fans heartbroken, as his voice has been a big part of Bollywood music for over a decade.

However, two weeks later, Arijit made an unexpected return to the stage during a concert in Kolkata. The event took place at a packed Netaji Indoor Stadium, where sitar maestro Anoushka Shankar invited him as a special guest. Arijit performed alongside Anoushka and renowned percussionist Bickram Ghosh, turning the evening into a memorable one for the audience.

Anoushka Shankar later shared a video from the concert and expressed her emotions in a heartfelt caption. She spoke about how special it was to hear Arijit sing a rarely heard Bengali song composed by her father, Pandit Ravi Shankar. The song, Maya Bhora Raati, was originally sung by Lakshmi Shankar and received a soulful rendition by Arijit and Anoushka during the concert.

Soon after, videos from the performance went viral on social media. Fans couldn’t stop praising Arijit’s talent and passion for music. Many netizens called him a “once in a generation” singer, while others felt he is now reconnecting with his musical roots. Comments like “pure talent,” “he glows differently as an individual artist,” and “this is his true range” flooded the internet.

Although Arijit has stepped away from playback singing, he is now focusing on creating his own music and performing live. His recent appearance proves that while he may be done with Bollywood playback, his journey as an artist is far from over. Fans are excited to see what he does next and continue to support him wholeheartedly.
