Even blockbuster films that break records don’t always leave their creators completely satisfied. Actor Aamir Khan recently opened up about his 2014 hit PK and admitted that both he and director Rajkumar Hirani were “not totally happy” with how the film turned out.

In a conversation with Variety India Aamir shared that the original script of PK was quite different especially the second half. The team had to make major changes before the film went on floors.

According to Aamir, the decision to change the script came after the release of Oh My God starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. While both films had completely different plots some of the core themes overlapped especially regarding religion and belief systems.

Aamir explained that Hirani was very particular about not repeating similar ideas on screen. This led them to rework the second half of PK even though they were already deep into the process.

He admitted that despite putting in their best effort both of them felt the film wasn’t exactly what they had initially visioned for . Still they accepted it as the best possible version at that time.

Interestingly even with these concerns PK turned out to be a massive success. It became one of the highest grossing Indian films of its time and was loved by audiences for its unique storytelling and bold message.

The film also featured actors like Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani, Saurabh Shukla and Sanjay Dutt in important roles.This shows how sometimes even when filmmakers are unsure about their work audiences can still connect deeply with it.

There have been reports that Aamir and Hirani might collaborate again for a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke. However, the project is currently on hold due to creative differences.

Fans are still hoping to see the successful duo reunite soon given their strong track record together.

Aamir was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par where he played a basketball coach training Autistic children. The film also starred Genelia Deshmukh and was directed by Prasanna.
