Sometimes the internet digs up the most unexpected throwbacks and this time, it’s landed right on cue for actor Rakesh Bedi.
A 12 year old clip featuring the veteran actor has gone viral, just days after the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. What makes it special is that in the video, taken from the popular TV show Qubool Hai, Bedi is seen introducing himself as “Dhurandhar Watavdekar” in a scene, long before the film ever existed.
In the scene his character sternly tells Zoya Faruqui, played by Surbhi Jyoti that emotional appeals or pressure tactics won’t affect him. It’s a brief moment, but the name has now caught everyone’s attention. The timing of the clip’s resurfacing, right when Bedi is earning praise for his role in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has left fans amused.
Social media as expected had a field day. Many joked that the actor had manifested the role years in advance while others called it “peak detailing.” Some even went a step further, humorously suggesting that Qubool Hai was a prequel in disguise. A few fans quipped that Bedi was the “real Dhurandhar all along” adding to the buzz around both the clip and the film.
In Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Bedi plays Jameel Jamali a Pakistani politician and the father-in-law of Ranveer Singh’s character. His performance, packed with sharp one liners and comic timing, has stood out in a film otherwise driven by action and drama.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film hit theatres on March 19 and has been performing strongly at the box office ever since. While it has drawn some criticism in certain quarters, the overall response from audiences has been largely positive. The film has already crossed the ₹300 crore mark domestically within just three days of release, underlining the strong pull it has among viewers.

Led by Ranveer Singh, the story follows an Indian spy who infiltrates a terror network, with the sequel digging deeper into his past and motivations. With a supporting cast that includes Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R. Madhavan, the film is expected to continue its strong run in the coming days.
As for Rakesh Bedi this unexpected throwback has only added to the current wave of appreciation coming his way. Whether coincidence or just a fun twist of fate, the internet seems convinced, this ‘Dhurandhar’ moment was a long time coming.
