At the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards 2025, actress Rashmika Mandanna experienced an emotional moment that resonated with everyone present; especially with her mother-in-law, Madhavi Deverakonda (mother of actress Vijay Deverakonda). Rashmika was awarded Best Actress award for her role in The Girlfriend and delivered a speech on stage that evoked strong feelings of happiness and sadness.
Rashmika has been subject to ridicule and trolling for years, but she candidly acknowledged her past trials and tribulations when accepting her award. The first time Rashmika had been publicly ridiculed was 10 years ago when she began acting; now, she is being recognised by the same industry and audience.
During the award ceremony she recalled, “There was a time when I was trolled for my performance. But now, I have received an award for my performance from the state. So, I feel like I’ve come a long way. It’s extremely special to receive this award for a film like The Girlfriend. It gives us the confidence to make more films like this.”
Rashmika further added, “It is my first festival as a married woman, and I actually completed my pooja before heading to the award ceremony. It was beautiful and I feel contended.”
The award show took place on March 19 when Rashmika was awarded by actor Ram Charan and attended by Telangana’s Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. It was an important milestone in her career due to the timing of the recognition—i.e., only weeks after getting married.
