Actor Rajpal Yadav was in the news for the entire month of February. In February, Yadav turned himself into Tihar Jail in relation to a cheque bounce case, which had been filed against him back in 2012. He was released on interim bail on March 18 after attending a family wedding and has since held a press conference in Mumbai to respond to claims of fraud from Priyadarshan.
He also spoke to SCREEN exclusively, where he thanked the film industry for their support; however, he denied the fact that the director’s claim about his educational background being connected to his current situation is correct.

Rajpal Yadav responds to Priyadarshan’s ‘poor education’ remark
In talking to SCREEN, Rajpal denied the program’s assertion that he is uneducated. He clarified that Priyadarshan does not know him at all and that he has an extensive education and has worked for a living since age 11, without interruption until now. Furthermore, according to Rajpal, everybody who has accomplished anything has had to deal with some type of setback or another, and whether or not those setbacks are related to educational background is irrelevant. If you were to think I don’t have a good education, how did I sustain a career in the film industry for over 25 years?
“On the other hand, the three directors that I have supreme admiration for are Ram Gopal Varma, David Dhawan and Priyadarshan. My admiration for them is not just out of respect; I have also worked with all three of them combined in over 50 films. Therefore, the issue of ‘bad education’ is irrelevant; there may be some other agenda behind that comment. I consider myself to be ‘like a son’ to Priyanji; whenever he calls me to help him with a movie, I’m always willing to act. But at the same time, neither he nor anyone else from Bollywood has the full story, so any opinions made without knowledge of the entire situation do not matter,” said the actor.
When talking with Mid-Day, Priyadarshan revealed that Rajpal Yadav has been a part of his life for over 20 years now. He remembers seeing Rajpal for the first time in a movie called Jungle and being very impressed. After watching him in that movie, Priyadarshan hired him to star in Malamaal Weekly, which was the first time that they worked together.
When asked whether or not he would be able to help Rajpal with his financial problems, Priyadarshan told me that he had already requested the producers of his upcoming film, Jubilee Films, to pay Rajpal more than they normally would, and that they were happy to assist. He went on to say that Rajpal will be playing the villain in Jubilee Films and confirmed that Priyadarshan has continually cast Rajpal after learning about the difficulties Rajpal has experienced through the years and has also recommended him for several commercials where he’s used the proceeds from those commercials to help him financially. According to Priyadarshan, Rajpal is a very good person and has simply made a serious error due to his lack of an education.
Rajpal Yadav’s Upcoming Film
Despite his legal troubles, Rajpal Yadav claims to have a full schedule for both the next year. When specific about what projects he has coming out soon, he mentioned his first film is Bhoot Bangla with Priyadarshan, and that he will also have a role in Welcome to the Jungle, which has an ensemble cast with 27 actors.
He will also appear in Haiwaan, although his role is small; he also asserted to be involved with both two web series and two additional films, although he did not provide any specifics.
Regarding Sonu Sood’s comment on seeking jobs, Rajpal has indicated he does not see himself as a job seeker. Instead, he said, “People should not think of me as someone who solicits job offers from them.” He also added that he has never viewed his need to ask for job offers as a dependency; rather, because film is his livelihood and his total dedication, he believes his work ethic can lead to increased job offer volume. He then added that he has always had ongoing employment throughout the past 11 years and that “work has followed him.”
