Over the years, the loan reportedly remained unpaid, and cheques issued towards repayment allegedly bounced. With accumulating interest and penalties, the total outstanding amount rose to nearly ₹9 crore. After failing to clear the dues within the court’s stipulated deadline, Rajpal was sent to jail.

He was later granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court after depositing part of the outstanding amount and agreeing to comply with certain conditions set by the court.
