Akshaye Khanna or Nawazuddin Siddiqui for Tumbbad 2 Villain? Insider Hints at a Dark Casting Twist

Industry buzz suggests Akshaye Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are being considered for the antagonist in Tumbbad 2, with makers aiming…

The buzz surrounding Tumbbad 2 has intensified ever since actor producer Sohum Shah officially collaborated with Pen Studios, led by veteran producer Dr Jayantilal Gada. With a banner known for backing cinematic spectacles like RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi, trade circles are already calling the sequel one of the most ambitious projects currently in development.

Originally released in 2018, Tumbbad transformed from a sleeper hit into a globally celebrated cult phenomenon. Its 2024 re release further cemented its legacy, drawing a new generation of viewers into its haunting universe of greed, mythology and psychological horror. Now, with the sequel expected to go on floors soon, the makers are looking to expand that dark and layered world in a much bigger way.

Amid this mounting anticipation, fresh industry chatter points toward a potential casting coup for the sequel’s antagonist.

A source close to the development reveals, “A powerful antagonist is central to the narrative of Tumbbad 2. The team is keen on elevating the sequel with a layered and formidable negative lead. Akshaye Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are two names currently being discussed. Their ability to portray morally complex and unpredictable characters makes them compelling choices for the world of Tumbbad.”

The source further adds, “The idea is to introduce an antagonist who is not just menacing but deeply layered, someone who can stand toe to toe with Sohum’s character in terms of intensity and psychological depth.”

For Sohum Shah, Tumbbad 2 is not merely a sequel but a strategic expansion of a cinematic universe he has carefully nurtured. As both actor and producer under Sohum Shah Films, he remains invested in preserving the tonal integrity and mythological richness that defined the original. The collaboration with Pen Studios signals a significant scale up in vision, blending creative ambition with strong production backing.

With speculation mounting and no official casting confirmation yet, Tumbbad 2 is already shaping up to be darker, grander and far more intense than its predecessor. If either Akshaye Khanna or Nawazuddin Siddiqui steps into the antagonist’s role, the sequel could deliver a villain as unforgettable as the legend itself.
