Don film Franchise by Bollywood has turned out to be an unexpected offscreen war between Excel Entertainment headed by Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh when the latter purportedly refused to participate in the production of Don 3, which created a turnover and responsibility grieving confrontation.
Being the third part of the legendary series of action movies where Shah Rukh Khan played the protagonist in the first two versions (2006 and 2011), Don 3 was first announced with Ranveer leading the pack. The actor reportedly withdrew after creative differences with the producer following a successful Dhurandhar release, reportedly chain-ganged Ranveer to pull out of the project and Excel is now said to be claiming 40 crore damages on pre-production.
It was a demand that Ranveer fought angrily in a behind-closed-door meeting that was mediated by the Producers Guild of India. His basic argument: he has never received any compensation with manufacturers and thus he should not make losses.

As per quoted in HT, “Ranveer Singh also pointed out that he was to work in a film called Baiju Bawra, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He prepped for the challenging role for almost a year and turned down several films as a result. Ultimately, Baiju Bawra was shelved and Sanjay Leela Bhansali then began working on Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Ranveer revealed that he was not compensated for the year he spent preparing for the role. He further argued that it’s the nature of the business – at times, films don’t get made or are relegated to the backburner for various reasons and no one gets compensated for it.
Rumours also quoted in Ranveer that the Excel production considered replacing Ranveer by Shah Rukh Khan in the third instalment of Don and in this case Ranveer would be put on the sidelines without being criticized.
Meanwhile, beyond this controversy, the fate of Don 3 remains unknown since the dialogue about the star and producers continues and the moviegoers are waiting on the edge of their seats to see how this high-stakes Bollywood battle would end.
