Bollywood actor and fashion icon Sonam Kapoor Ahuja is all set to welcome her second baby with husband Anand Ahuja. Before the arrival of their little one, the family celebrated Sonam’s Godh Bharai ceremony at their Mumbai home. The actor recently shared a beautiful video on social media, giving fans a glimpse of the special day.
In the video, many of her close friends and family members can be seen blessing the mom-to-be. Her cousins Arjun Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor and Shanaya Kapoor attended the ceremony. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Masaba Gupta and Bhumi Pednekar were also present to celebrate the happy occasion. The clip shows warm hugs, smiles and lots of love, making it a very emotional and joyful event.
Along with the video, Sonam explained the meaning of the ceremony in her caption. She wrote about Seemantonnayan, which is the third of the sixteen sacred sanskars in Sanatan Dharma. It is often called the “hair-parting ritual” and is performed to honour the mother and the life she carries. Across India, this ritual is known by different names such as Godh Bharai, Shrimant, Dohale Jevan, Shaad, Seemantham, Valaikappu and more. Even though the names are different, the blessing remains the same love, protection and celebration of new life.
Sonam also shared her emotions in the caption. She said she felt very special because all her best friends and family members were there for her. She thanked her mother, mother-in-law and sister for organising everything and making her feel loved and celebrated. She wrote that she felt “so held” and that her heart was full of gratitude.
For the ceremony, Anand Ahuja wore a simple white kurta pajama with gold details. Sonam, however, stole the show in a beautiful hand printed pistachio green ethnic outfit. She proudly showed her baby bump and looked elegant as always.
Sonam and Anand are already parents to their son Vayu, and now they are excited to welcome their second child. Fans have been sending love and good wishes to the couple. The ceremony was truly a heartwarming celebration filled with tradition, love and happiness.
We wish the growing family all the happiness as they prepare to welcome their new bundle of joy.
