A promotional event meant to celebrate the release of the trailer for the much-anticipated Bollywood film O’Romeo took an unexpected turn on Wednesday when veteran actor Nana Patekar walked out of the launch event after waiting for more than an hour for his co-stars.
The trailer launch, held in Mumbai’s Andheri suburb, was attended by lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, along with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj. However, senior actor Nana, who plays a key role in the film, reportedly grew frustrated when the event did not begin on time. After arriving at the venue punctually with his team, Patekar waited for the programme to start while Shahid and Triptii were still yet to appear, eventually choosing to leave before the official proceedings commenced.

According to reports, the delay lasted for around 60–90 minutes, with Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri arriving late after attending a separate poster launch ceremony nearby. The prolonged wait reportedly tested Patekar’s patience, leading to his abrupt exit amid growing frustration.

Eyewitnesses noted that Patekar was present early for the event and even posed for photographers, but eventually chose to exit before the main trailer unveiling due to the delay.
Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, who had worked with Nana for the first time on O’Romeo despite a long friendship of nearly three decades, addressed the situation with the media during the event. He said Patekar’s departure was characteristic of the actor’s personality, likening him to “the naughtiest kid in a classroom , the one who bullies others but also entertains them.” Bhardwaj stated that while it would have been nice if Patekar stayed, his decision to leave was taken in stride and was something “that makes Nana, Nana Patekar.”

He also candidly acknowledged that the delay was a mishap on the organisers’ part, admitting publicly that keeping Patekar waiting was a mistake and explaining that the actor simply left in his signature style, saying essentially: “You made me wait an hour, I’m going.”
News of Patekar’s exit quickly sparked chatter on social media, with fans weighing in on the situation. Many praised the actor for standing his ground on punctuality and professionalism, while others debated whether the incident was a result of mismanagement rather than intentional disrespect.
O’Romeo is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and stars Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in leading roles, supported by an ensemble cast including Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Farida Jalal, and others. The action-thriller rooted in intense drama is slated for release in theatres on February 13, 2026. Despite the hiccup at the launch event, the official trailer has now been released, drawing interest from audiences eager to see the full story unfold on screen.
