Actor Neelima Azeem recently opened up about the harsh scrutiny she faces over her personal life and failed marriages. In an interview with Zoom TV, Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s mother spoke about toxic social media narratives and how she now feels the need to share her truth.
Neelima, who was married to Pankaj Kapur, Rajesh Khatter and later Ustaad Raza Ali Khan, revealed that online comments often deeply affect her. Calling out false assumptions, she said, “Just the other day, someone commented that ‘sharaab pee kar kya haal ho gaya hai’. I don’t even drink. Social media makes statements without any truth.”
Speaking about being blamed for her marriages not working out, Neelima clarified that she never married for money or status. “I married very simple men who had no money, but who I thought were great people and very talented. I never married for material or riches,” she shared. The actress also reflected on her long career in theatre and television, saying she never felt the need to “blow my own trumpet.”
Neelima further expressed disappointment over how people, especially women, judge each other online. “If you don’t tell your truth, people suppress your voice, change your facts… It’s very easy to blame the person,” she added.
Earlier too, Neelima had candidly spoken about her marriages with Pankaj Kapur and Rajesh Khatter, admitting that relationships sometimes fail despite good intentions. She credited her sons Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter for being her biggest source of strength and happiness through difficult phases of life.
