The teaser of Bandar has finally been unveiled, giving audiences a gripping glimpse into Anurag Kashyap’s next intense drama starring Bobby Deol in a layered and morally complex role. Backed by Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks, the film presents Bobby as Sameer Mehra — a flamboyant musician whose life spirals after serious allegations are made against him.

The teaser opens with Sameer making a dramatic entrance at a glamorous party, dressed in a sparkling jacket and oversized sunglasses, carrying the aura of a rockstar. His introduction instantly brings back memories of Bobby’s iconic ’90s charm, especially reminiscent of his stylish appearances in films like Gupt: The Hidden Truth.

Set to a quirky, energetic soundtrack, Sameer is seen flirting and dancing while enjoying the spotlight. At one point, a woman asks him, “Why are you on a dating app? You can get any girl you want.” Sameer responds by admitting that he sometimes feels like “a bahut bura aur ghatiya kisam ka aadmi.”

The teaser further hints at his reckless behaviour, showing him swiping through dating profiles without even checking ages. The tone shifts dramatically midway when Sameer is arrested on charges of sexual assault. While he insists the accusations are false and claims the woman is trying to frame him, the teaser leaves viewers questioning his innocence.

Much of the film appears to unfold inside a prison, with Bobby delivering an intense performance as a man trapped between charm, arrogance, and vulnerability. The teaser also introduces Sanya Malhotra as Sameer’s sister, who openly calls him an “idiot.”

The ensemble cast further includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Saba Azad, Jitendra Joshi, Raj B. Shetty, Sapna Pabbi, Riddhi Sen, and Nagesh Bhonsle.Directed by Anurag Kashyap and co-directed by Sakshi Mehta Lau, the film is written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee. Although the teaser describes the story as “based on true events,” Kashyap has clarified that the film is not connected to the MeToo movement, despite online speculation.

Interestingly, Bobby Deol had initially hesitated to take on such a dark role, but it was his late father, legendary actor Dharmendra, who encouraged him to take the risk. Bandar is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 5.
