The ups and downs of the trade are at times very publicly discussed by the Dhurandhar director, Aditya Dhar, while seven years have already passed since his film Uri: The Surgical Strike was released in theaters.

The 11th of January 2019 is the date of his first film Uri’s premiere, a real turning point not just for him but Indian cinema, as he took home the National Film Award for Best Director that year. He posted on Instagram that the whole journey was way beyond his expectations. He called Indian cinema a “hard, unforgiving journey” full of uncertainty, sleepless nights, and incessant battles.

In spite of that he soon talked about the good side of the evil. He believes that the very hardest moments are to a great extent when the public comes and accepts your artistic creation because then all the suffering seems to have some purpose. A very creative director might become so fascinated with the project that even after its completion he will still be among the characters and will not realize that he has become part of the story.

Dhar has also experienced the same ups and downs in the industry the moment Uri was released. His next film, Dhurandhar, an espionage thriller with Ranveer Singh not only was a hit but also he had stirred discussions in the society, among the professionals, and obviously in the audience.

In a rather unconventional way, the message that he brought to the audience was not only a reflection of the past but also a proposal of being humble, being thirsty for success, and most importantly being faithful to the future stories that he would tell.
